Hello everyone.
Man, is time flying by more quickly than it used to or is it just me?Is there some diversion going on in the Great Cosmic Clock or it it just my imagination? Anyhow, we're all very excited about the premiere of issue number one of S.C.I. SPY due next month. Doug,Jimmy and I feel we have something special here. So far, the majority of reviews have all given it a thumb's up.
We would like to hear your response and feedback. Please drop us a line and let us know what you think. All mail will be answered in regards to anything pertaining to a new comic series, new and old works, and the website in general.
The highlight of 2001 had to be the comic convention held in Santiago, Chile back in November. If you ever get the opportunity to visit this fine city, do it. It's very cosmoplitan and exciting. If you want the latest of anything, you'll find it there from comics to movies to the new Britney Spears c.d. [well, there are some glitches] McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, it's all there. Some of the coolest clubs I've ever been in.
Everyone is walking around with a cel phone glued to their domes. They were going into their summer months, so the temperature was in the 80 degree range. The four-day con was a blast with guests including John McCrea [Hitman], Luke Ross and Fabio Laguna who both hail from Argentina and work for Marvel.
The local talent was impressive. Many creative people. Cutting edge animators and C.G.I. designers doing state of the art stuff. What one has to keep in mind is that unlike America which has it's states, South America is divided into into individual countries, this makes for isolation and provincialism. As a result everyone is anticipating that one "big break" that will lead them to work for one of the big publishers in the states. I've also seen the same thing in my travels to Europe.
I'm of the opinion that Marvel and D.C. should liscense out their characters to these countries. Let the writers and artists do their own Batman and Spiderman comics the way Disney does. It could only create more exposure and prosperity for the industry. A One World Comic Order so to speak.
I want to thank my friend Matt for keeping it all going and many others that I won't mention because I know I'll leave someone out.
God bless you all and I wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
stay tuned,
Paul
